What’s good people? Its been a grip since I’ve written a blog. There’s been a lot going on my galaxy that has kept me tied away from sharing thoughts and knowledge. But today I’m taking time out of my busy world to share something with you I feel everybody needs to know.
NEVER settle for subpar…..NEVER let anyone influence or convince you to quit because they don’t feel you or agree with what you do. People that tell you stuff like that are threatened by you, basically they are scared of your talent and fear that if you succeed they will no longer be visible on the map or it’s because they, themselves have failed and have become so miserable they must make everyone else with a dream feel the same. There are also those people who are so conceded that they think they are god and you’ll never be on their lever. NEVER fear criticism or the truth, cause what doesn’t kill you will always make you stronger. You are going to run into walls all your life and those walls will be different sizes and different shapes, they will have different faces and different voices. When you reach a wall knock it the f@#! down and keep walking. When you are finished don’t look back, always keep your head forward and high. Most importantly be yourself! Don’t force yourself to be something you’re not or let someone influence to change who your are. We are all cool, weird, crazy, and smart in our own way. f@#% what other people think. Give a chance to someone who needs one and take a chance when it’s offered. Be a provider not a destroyer and if you want respect you better start giving it cause if you don’t you won’t see it. There’s too many assholes in this world don’t encourage the creation of more.

Believe in yourself and in others and when someone reaches out don’t think your to good to reach back.

So frustrated I can’t concentrate!! Between the music coming out (which is garbage, not all of it) and the music that’s not coming out, we as a hip hop nation need our front-runners to take over enemy lines and take back what was taken from us! HIP HOP not this easy bake oven shit needs to pummel through all the mayhem and reclaim what is rightfully ours. I know some of the pioneers are becoming triple OG’s and aging but you are never to old to let the world know what you know and who you are. We owe it to Kool Herc and Fab Five Freddy. We owe it to Afrika Bambata and the Rock Steady Crew. All the graph heads and DJs. All of our fallen legends; 2Pac, Biggie, Guru, Big Pun and all the rest. I ask to please stop the scrutiny and devote the rest of your rhymes, your beats, your burners, your back spins to HIP HOP. This is more than just music, art and dance. It’s a life style which has given powers to kids and men and women in the form of self-expression and creativity. Hip hop has opened the door for all the success that has been accumulated over the past 20 years and we are just gonna slam the door back in its face with no respect. I don’t want to hear excuses any more. I’m tired of hearing well it’s not the same any more because the times changed. You are right, but where does it say that over time it must depreciate in value? Hip hop is not a car or a collector’s item. Hip hop is your heart, it is your lungs, your fingers, your legs and arms, your hands and mind, your eyes and hears. I’m a Hip Hop head and I know what good hip hop music is and I’ll be the first to say the majority of the music coming out nowadays isn’t. I don’t care if you listen or believe me or even grasp the message at all. Just know when I, Essentials walks through the doors all you who already have had the privilege to walk through, I’m going to bring hip hop along with me, it’s going to wreck your ears and make you want to bang your head. The lyrics are going to be so fresh they coming straight from the ground and into the ears of the listeners.

Help regain the meaning and purpose to hip hop. Help me, Essentials, in the efforts to educate the poor lost souls about the importance of hip hop, the honor it deserves as well as shown to those who have taken part into the creation and invention to hip hop. You know I’ve heard so many people and emcees argue about who started or created hip hop. I have an idea. It’s not about who started it and who invented hip hop. Hip hop is not something you create out of dust and water. Hip hop is what’s inside you and what you are and represent. Hip hop comes out of you unforced, naturally aspirated. I’m not here to argue about who is the godfather of hip hop, because we all are godfathers of hip hop in our own hip hop way. I’m gonna end my blog with this:

Don’t try to label something that already has one, be creative and invent your own, and if it’s not broken don’t fix it.

I’ve been tweeting now for almost a year and over that time I have met some interesting people. Today, I would like to take the time to tell you about two people who are not only big and famous in the music industry, but also have become very popular on YouTube with their show the Will Tell and Sadat X True Wine Connoisseurs (TWC). The reason why I am blogging about this is because they are not only informative about all varieties of wines…and how they taste, how to taste them, where they come from, how they are brewed, and also compare different wines to each other, but they do this in such a comedic fashion it has me wishing the shows were longer than 10 min. Now for every body that doesn’t know, Sadat x is part of the very influential and essential hip hop group brand Nubian and Will Tell is an astonishing producer. Get at him for beats instant bangers. Also for all you DC fans he does the beats for the skate videos. Now I don’t want you to just take my word for it, I want you to experience what I have. How to Ruin Your Life, A True Hollywood Story

I normally blog about hip hop and my life but this time I’m gonna steer away from music. I want to talk tonight about the Lindsay Lohan incident.

First off, I feel she got an easy punishment… a punishment where a lesson won’t be established. She got what, like 30 some days and if she has good behavior like 20? While being locked up radio stations like Wild 104.1 here in south Texas were taking donations for her…money, food ,etc. They were even going to give the address out to allow you to send her stuff! Why? She’s being punished! If I or someone of my status (not a celebrity) this wouldn’t happen. She’s also allowed to have aderal given to her which is most of the time misused as a drug to get high. Why? She is an example of how not to be, but we are making it seem like she is a victim. To what? Lindsay was a child actress and we all know that children actors sometimes become druggies and criminal due to the loss of childhood. The thing is that since we understand and are aware of this, the industry continues to exploit these kids. Ok now who’s at fault for this? Still it’s Lindsay fault. Many times I’ve heard of her getting help from friends and family, but still went down a road full of pot holes and powder. It’s sad. I feel that she should have been treated as a criminal not a celebrity. Paris messed that up for all. She did time and the press made it seem like she was so special for this but we all know that she knows now how to get away with it. Come on you think these chicks will learn? No!! They will say, “ok I got in this much trouble and only got a slap on the wrist”. Like I said, someone like us wouldn’t get the attention she gets. It’s bullshit! I feel that celebrities shouldn’t be treated differently than civilians. I want to become a professional recording artist and if I do something that breaks the law I know that I’m gonna get what I deserve. The bottom line is, don’t take Lindsay Lohans situation as a lesson take it as she got the light end of the stick and it’s not fair. I hope she is treated the same as any other inmate there and I hope she really experiences the life of prison and comes back out showing the world that she’s an idiot and a loser and she doesn’t deserve the life she’s been so lucky to have. It’s called taking advantage of your success and it’s a terrible message to put forth especially since she probably has a lot of young girls who look up to her. I mean why do those things when you have sooo much money and fame. I know it probably is stressful too, but come on people like we would like to have 1/3 of what she has and not take it for granted. So Lindsay Lohan I’ll never watch another movie of yours or have my kids see them either. You’ve ruined it for me. I’m disgusted by you and your actions and hope you feel the same way. Well fans if you have something to say please do. The world needs to know how we feel, that way we can make a change. They drug test pro athletes let’s drug test the actors and actresses and if they are dirty well no movie part for you.

Ok, so supressed a society under stress, lack of self-preservation, denial to caress, I care not to see the lies or hear the excuses of what’s false televised destruction, corruption of deception, visualized through the lost, what is the proper demonstration of elegance and it’s cost? Is it the character described by the obscene gestures you consider ignorant when it’s you own stupidity that blinds your eyes to see the real me. I’m unique, self driven, intelligent, and a genius. So smooth with my style it’s the groove I bring with every entrance, I arrive, it’s always the same thing. I never change for you or anybody else, if you don’t like what you get then be out, I’m not worried about what you really think, it’s just I’m tired of being judged because I’m not what you are. If I was, I’d kill my self tomorrow before the sun. Rise to the occasion and support what you’re not accustomed to, you’d be surprised that we might be smarter than you.

Never challenge a champion without training. But if you want to try, understand I float like a butterfly and sting like the whole hive. I’m Essentials, enjoy the rhyme take it however you like it’s subliminal very Devine I’m one of a kind.

Stay Focused

It’s easy to slip away from comfortable scenery into scandalous themes. Money today is becoming extinct and pretty soon a lot of people are going to be in the hole. Stay focused, stick to the necessities, and only go after needs… not wants.

Ok that’s my lesson for the day. So I heard from a bunch of people that Slims new album isn’t up to par. This is from others mouths, not mine. I haven’t heard it yet but honestly the way his albums have been coming out, they haven’t been, — let’s put it this way, Marshall Mathers LP was his sickest album. Since then, nothing compares. He’s not the only one. I felt that Tame Ones first album is his best and High and Mighty I feel the same. The thing ,is the albums aren’t bad or lyrically sick, it’s just they seemed watered down. Me being an MC and recording albums, I feel scared that others would say the same about me. That’s why I stay focused. I like to use KRS One as an example, every album he dropped was sicker than the other. To me that’s the ultimate goal when it comes to me and recording my albums. Some sophomore albums are not even close to the freshman, and to me that sucks. Let’s look at it like this, when you win the championship and you don’t win it the next year, that sucks. You want to win every time and all the time. Stay focused do what you NEED to do, and keep your eye and mind on the prizes to be a winner and remember, if you’re not first your last. In the music industry it seems after a while the fame and fortune numb the rawness of the rhymer. That whatever they lost focus on, they let materials come in between the prize.

Treat every rhyme like the first one you wrote. Make it sicker than the first and always be versatile, turn redundant into an adjective that describes the competitor. Also, always be original. Create yourself don’t recreate what you’re not. Last thing, don’t do stuff you have no business doing. Just because you dress the part doesn’t mean you’ll be cast to be it, and remember leave it to the professionals…. And don’t forget STAY FOCUSED!!!!

It’s been 6 months since the release of my first album and it’s gone OK. The area I’m in doesn’t help too much, but I’ve sold 50 albums and I’m cool with that. Now your probably asking “well is this an advertisement for my album?” …and yes it is. Support the indie artists and support me. Help me get to 10000 albums sales. Tell everybody you know, to those that are broke and can’t spend money, that the album will be released online for free for a whole month! We promote ourselves, pay for our albums to be produced in mass quantity, and pay for all the transportation to get to shows and back. That comes right out of our pockets and banks. Not all the time do we make a profit, most of the time we make even other times more than you’d think, we lose. But it doesn’t matter– we love to perform and make beautiful sounds. So help out the indie artist give them a chance to shine. Raw original power is more beneficial than processed. I wear my heart on my mic and it shows. True meaning of Hip Hop

The times are changing and so is hip hop, but is the change good or bad?

Is the music coming out nowadays really portraying the image that was created in the early 80s? Or has it shifted like tectonic plates creating an earthquake of destructive lyrics and rhythms?

Well I believe that what the world hears on the radio and on tv is a falsification of the true meaning of hip hop, not all but the majority of them are labeled hip hop and it is a wrong classification. The music nowadays seems filtered and watered down. I’m not gonna call out names of MCs or groups but those that do know, know who they are. I know you all have heard the terminology of “rap” compared to ” hip hop.” Is there a difference? Hell motherfucking yeah!!! A BIG difference. Rap, for instance is what is out today is similar to hip hop. sounds close to hip hop, but isn’t hip hop. See hip hop is more than the music, it’s a lifestyle which people mistake for rap. Now hip hoppas do “rap” but we like to call it rhyme 99.9% of the time. We deliver a verse with such an immaculate style filled with a vocabulary that makes you think it was acquired at an Ivy League school. Not even, it comes from books and experiences. See when living the life of hip hop, you see the world in a different aspect. It’s as if we are always outside the box, looking for another approach at how to grasp the knowledge thrown our way and then we put a hip hop twist on it. We have our own language, we have our own walk, we have our own life. Not saying we are better than everybody else, it’s just we feel that you can’t take advantage of it. It’s not up for discussing or up for changes and suggestions. It grows with time and right now the real hip hop lays underground. We have been forced out of the world we ounce owned like the Jews in Jerusalem. We have lost our land but like a strong will, we adapted and conquered. One day we will rise and take back what is ours. One last note, if you find yourself asking what am I talking about think of the KRS-One and Nelly beef. You all think Nelly won cause he sold more albums, but really KRS-One did. Why? Cause he made a whole diss album in one weekend and the first verse, on the first track, on that album was hotter than Nellys whole album. Not to mention that KRS -One is a pioneer of hip hop, Nelly is just a rapper. Look, the listeners have been brainwashed long enough. My dreams have always been the same…

When I was a child, I wanted to be a professional baseball player, but that didn’t happen as you can tell. My next dream has been my dream for the past 14 years, an that’s to be a professional MC. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I will wait another ten if I have too. Dreams are important to me and for those that have dreams know they are important, and follow them. See, I think that a dream is the one thing that makes you the happiest. If you follow it and get it, it is because you never gave up and you did what it took to get there. Dreams are more than a thought. It is the picture or the theme you seem to think is best for you. The beauty of it, is that you are the captain of the dream, you can change it and shape it to how you want. I’m chasing my dream and I will never stop until I get it, I or die…which ever one comes first. Passion helps you to keep seeking your dream. The Power of Hip Hop

Who tweet? I do. I just got the app for my iPhone and I love it. Look, I’m trying to get everyone who tweeta to rhyme with me, so if you have a Twitter account follow me @essentials919 and check my tweet out on May 30. I started the rhyme, now anyone and everyone needs to join. It doesn’t matter what you say or how you say it, just rhyme and allow hip hop to become a part of your life — like it is a part of mine. My goal is to get everyone on Twitter to experience hip hop by rhyming with me and who ever else joins.

The power of hip hop has blessed me with a wonderful life. Not only that but my wife and kids and my immediate family(to many to name) — the power of hip hop keeps my dreams moving, keeps my mind educated, and keeps me thinking about success. I’ve always believed that if you do what you’re suppose to do, you’ll be successful. Well it’s true, but don’t do what you’re SUPPOSE to, but do what you love. Hip hop teaches you that, well it taught me that. What one person can learn another can too, and another, and another. Hip hop is not only a lifestyle, but a learning structure full of education and advise, as well as providing a future for people.

Hip hop is to me different from 10 years ago, but it isn’t a bad difference — to me the hip hop lifestyle is stronger and better. Most hip hop is underground, but the structure is stronger than what is above. Pretty soon those on top will find that the underground will rise and conquer. Hip hop will be forever, the others are just fads who will fad out and never be seen again.

So to all my hip hoppas, Do what you do, and Be who you be and let the times take care of us! Peace.
